Elnet Encourages Students – 3.4 Challenge

Two very bright students are winners of a 3.4 grade point average challenge put on by Elnet Maritime Company. Regina Hpburn of Elnet, explained that 10 entrants were submitted by employees of the company with the criteria of having a GPA of 2.4 or above. The highest gpa was 3.8, and both winners had acheived that during the past semester at their schools. The winners were vandria Hepburn, of Maurice Moore Primary School, and Kariel Stuart of Bishop Michael Eldon School. Stuart said she was excited when she found out she was one of two winners, and she would be receiving an Ipad for her efforts.

Hepburn said she was also excited about winning winning, and although she had been using her father’s Ipad all along, she is now happy to have her own. As for her funds she said she would use part for her college saving and the rest “to spend on a swimming pool.” Regina Hepburn said the challenge was the company’s way encouraging the children to soar as high as they can get academically. “We entered the students for the current school term, and the prizes were either an Ipad 3 or $1,000. We ended up having a tie with two students so they split the $1,000 for $500 each and we got an extra Ipad for the second winner.
They both ended up with 3.8 so we are very proud of them.” She said the challenge had gotten very competitive. “We just want to continue to encourage them to go higher and higher and to let them know that we are very proud of them and also thank their parents for encouraging them at home to just keep going higher academically.
