Elnet Maritime Agency – Hurricane Dorian Relief Initiative and “We Are Resilient” Campaign, 2019
Sept 1, 2019 The Islands of The Bahamas – Grand Bahama Island and The Abacos were both devastated by Hurricane Dorian as it hit both islands at Category 5 status. This hurricane has been catalogued as one of the deadliest hurricanes in history.
As both islands we faced with the trauma of losing loved ones, their homes, and all belongings, there have been many initiatives throughout the island to rebuild and assist in the recovery of some normalcy.
Elnet Maritime’s call to action started immediately following the storm. CEO Elbert Hepburn, a native Grand Bahamian along with his homegrown company Elnet Maritime literally hit the ground running.
Sept 3rd, 2019 – Elnet releases to the media throughout Grand Bahama and the islands that flight services between Florida and The Bahamas have been secured for the transportation of goods and supplies from the United States.
Sept 10th, 2019 – Elnet partners with The Faith Center and Bishop Henry Fernandez, Sunrise FL to provide a drop off location for relief goods to be transported to The Bahamas.
Sept 10th, 2019 – Elnet releases to the media that they will extend free customs brokerage clearance for person needing assistance clearing the shipments of relief goods going to Grand Bahama and Abaco.
Sept 12th, 2019 – Mrs. Regina Hepburn, wife of CEO Elbert Hepburn along with Elnet hosted a lunch for 1,500 Grand Bahamians affected by the storm at Grace Bible Fellowship Church. The food was catered by The Licking, Miami Gardens.
Sept 13th, 2019 – Mr. Hepburn met with HYH International Cargo Services and retained their services to consolidate and export all containers Elnet received with relief goods.
Sept 16th, 2019 – Elnet partners with Interiors by Steven G of South Florida who provided a drop off location and base for the loading and preparation of goods to be shipped to The Bahamas.
Sept 19th, 2019 – Elnet Trucking provides the transportation, loading, and offloading of relief supplies for the Red Cross Society of The Bahamas
Sept 20th, 2019 – The Elnet Empowerment partners with NEMA and Rebuild Grand Bahama to the “Operation Relief Saturday” at Independence Park in Freeport. The provided food and a day of entertainment for Grand Bahamians along with the distribution of relief items.
September 2019 – Mrs. Regina Hepburn and The Healing Hearts Foundation partnered with Elnet to receive, organize, distribute, and personally provide relief items to Grand Bahama.
Mrs. Hepburn was especially hands-on with the efforts to rebuild the Grand Bahama Children’s Home. Along with Healing Hearts and Elnet they provided relief goods, food, and clothing for the children.
October 7th, 2019 – Mr. Elbert Hepburn introduces his “We Are Resilient” campaign as he and his company distribute more supplies at Nesbit Rentals.
It should be noted that Elnet has shown its strength and leadership when it comes to shipping and logistics during this disaster relief. The restoration efforts still continue and Elnet is very much present and active.
